Instructions: Write a 2-3 page double spaced paper on the prompt below. Have a title page. Use

twelve point, Times New Roman font and one-inch margins. No spaces between paragraphs.

Papers must be uploaded to blackboard.

From among the assigned readings for this semester (other than the ones you used in the previous

two papers), choose one that makes an argument which provoked the strongest reaction from

you. This reaction could be positive or negative but it must be a rational reaction. Write a paper

about this argument with the following three parts:

1. Summarize the argument in your own words. This part should have a quote from the

text.

2. State why it had the effect on you that it did and why you believe it to be especially

thought provoking. This part should be at least 1 page in length.

3. Discuss what you take to be the strong and weak points of the argument, and how it could

be made stronger. Be sure to discuss more than simply how the author chooses to present

the argument but the argument itself. This part should be at least 1 page in length.

Your paper will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

1. Following correct format.

2. Usage of the text. (E.g. Does the paper quote the text?)

3. Degree of accuracy in describing the argument.

4. Thoughtful engagement with the text.
