1815 was the time of one of the deadliest volcanic eruptions in the

world.When Mount Tambora-a stratovolcanic settlement located in

Indonesia- erupted April 10th, 1815, it led to the downfall of many di#erent

on the Indonesian island of Sumbawa. The surrounding 12 cubic miles of

land and area were covered in magma and gases, as well as debris that

came about once the eruption triggered tsunamis in the nearby seas.This

single eruption had caused 10,000 deaths and took years to restore the

damage that it had underwent. It became known as "The Year without

Summer", due to how drastically it had stripped life away from the

surrounding areas.

However, this was not the +rst volcanic eruption that Mount Tamborahad

caused. Just three years earlier, in 1812, the volcano was studied and noted

for engaging in frequent activity. Such activity included many smaller and

less drastic eruptions within those three years. It is inferred that it was

these small eruptions that triggered the larger eruption that then became

the most drastic volcanic eruption of all time.
